Types of Cover for the Kindle

Choosing which Kindle to buy is relatively straightforward. Far more tough is choosing which Kindle Covers are best since there are so many to choose from. Here is a quick guide to the types on offer to help make your decision a little bit easier:
Folio or jacket style covers. These hold the reader securely inside all the time giving the most protection and offering the feel of reading from an ordinary old fashioned paper book. Of course this means a little more weight when reading but many fold back completely, and some include stands to prop your reader up to free your hands. There are a few main ways the device is held in place. Some feature a hinge system onto which the Kindle clips. These are the most secure but care must be taken when inserting or removing the device to ensure no stress is put on the casing. Others use a four point mounting system, which is basically fabric, leather or elastic straps that hold the corners of the reader onto the inside back cover of the jacket. Others use a slide in pocket inside the cover which are more secure if fitted well, but do add weight and bulk. Simple sleeves are usually nylon or neoprene and give good padded protection to the reader when not being used. Zips or Velcro are the most usual forms of closure, but some will need nothing as they fit so snugly. These are a better choice if you prefer to read the Kindle without anything extra around it. Skins are usually silicone and fit tightly onto the device (like skin!). These are good for keeping the reader clean and scratch free but tend to attract lint and may be more difficult to wipe clean than the device itself.

Hopefully your choice of Kindle cover will now be a little more straightforward!
