Apple is definitely doing a great job in the Smartphone industry. The iPhone seems to be the apple of the eye of almost all Smartphone enthusiasts. Breaking their momentum is probably a very difficult thing to do especially now that they have another success in the form of the iPad.

The design is revolutionary which makes it even more appealing. Toshiba is trying their luck to break the chain of successful devices offered by Apple with their much awaited new baby named the Toshiba Folio 100. The only question is; would fate be on their side now? Let us talk more about this interesting device and find out if it what effect it will have on Toshiba's status in the industry.

What's in a Tablet?

For the sake of others who are not completely aware of what a tablet is, it is basically a computer that offers full functionality that's presented in a flat touch display. Your finger tips are the primary mode of navigation since there is no mouse or keyboard included in the package. Some of the most famous tablets out in the market are the Apple iPad and Blackberry's Playbook. Another tablet on the list is the Toshiba Folio 100.

Specs

The humongous touch screen of the Toshiba Folio 100 is the most recognisable feature of course. It has a capacitive touch display that measures 10.1 inches. Just to compare with the iPad its screen measures 9.7 inches only, this gives the Folio a little edge on the said device.

The sizable display is expected to provide exceptional viewing experience and you simply can't expect anything less. The screen supports a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels which should be credited for the awesome vivid display. Multi-touch support is equally exceptional as well.

The processor used is the NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core and boasts of a speed of 1 GHz. This is definitely an advanced feature that might just leave other netbooks in the market behind.

It has a 1.3 MP camera which is quite useful in taking pictures. It is also ideal for web/video chatting. It is a perfect device to stay connected with your family and friends despite being in a distant location.

Google-less

The Toshiba Folio 100's main feature seems to be the main reason why some folks might be disappointed with this device. Surprisingly the Folio will not run with Google Apps. That simply means that you won't be able to access the popular Android market together with the other applications that is associated with it. It may be fair to say that a number of tablet users enjoy the luxury of what Google Apps provide.

Nonetheless, the Folio 100 seems to be a very impressive device on paper. Despite not having the famed Android OS on board, we're sure that the manufacturers have come up with something to compensate. But whether or not it will match the awesome features of the Android is an altogether different question.
