The Dell 5100CN is made for the busy office that needs a go-to printer. This is the heavy duty printer that can get the job done. With quick printing, built in duplexer, heavy duty paper holding capacity, and network ready system, it is the perfect printer for offices that print all day long.

This printer is kind of a beast. It weighs in at 84 pounds and is about 17" by 23" by 18" in size. This printer is big enough that it is probably best to find a permanent area for it and keep it there. The set up and installation don't take very long once it is lugged into its new home.

The device has an LCD menu screen that is used for all commands. It comes standard with a 128 MB of memory already installed. It can support up to 640 MB total RAM with upgrade options. Heavy volumes of graphics and images will probably require the upgrade. Text documentation will be fine with just the regular memory depending on the number of stations connected to it. The print speeds however are very fast with just the stock. It can print 35 pages per minute for monochrome printing and 25 pages per minute for color prints. This by itself is plenty for large print jobs for the lasers. It can handle multiple print jobs at one time as well.

There are plenty of features handling media and paper capacity. Envelopes, plain paper, bonded paper, coated paper, transparencies and labels are all ok to print with this printer. Paper sizes such as A4, A5, B5, Folio and Executive work fine with this printer. These might be best working with using the duplexer when printing double sided pages. This printer can handle holding 650 sheets standard but can be upgraded to 2150 sheets with upgrades. The unit can handle 3000 pages per day and 90,000 pages per month.

The 5100cn can also be hooked up to an Ethernet network as many different work stations can use it at one time.

Yellow, Cyan, Magenta and Black cartridges are available at low cost and can print 8000 pages at a high quality print. The print quality is not photo quality which is standard with printers like these. Presentation images, graphs and graphics will come out great with this particular printer. All other outputs will look sharp crisp clean and great.

This printer is a do-it-all device. It has the speed the power and the durability to satisfy every office need. High volume printing is a perfect situation to use something like the 5100cn.
